More Curricular Safeguarding Policy

At More Curricular, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all children who participate in our activities. This policy outlines our procedures and practices for safeguarding children from harm or abuse.

 

Scope of the Policy

This policy applies to all staff members, including the owner and any sessional workers, as well as parents/guardians and children who participate in our walking tours, workshops and courses. It covers both on-site and off-site activities.

 

DBS Checks

All staff members at More Curricular are required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before joining our team. The owner of More Curricular has an enhanced DBS check, along with any sessional workers who may be assisting in activities.

 

Staff Behaviour Policy / Code of Conduct

We have a clear staff behaviour policy in place which outlines our expectations for appropriate conduct and behaviour from all staff members. This includes guidelines on professional boundaries, communication with children and parents/guardians, and appropriate behaviour during activities. All staff members are expected to adhere to this policy at all times.

 

Public Liability Insurance

More Curricular holds adequate public liability insurance to cover any potential accidents or incidents that may occur during our activities. Our insurance policy is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure it meets the necessary requirements and provides adequate coverage.

 

Safe Setting

The safety of children participating in our activities is of utmost importance to us. We take great care in selecting suitable venues for our activities, ensuring that they are safe and appropriate for children. All venues undergo thorough risk assessments before being approved for use by More Curricular.

 

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

We have a comprehensive safeguarding and child protection policy in place which outlines our procedures for identifying and responding to any concerns or allegations of abuse or neglect. Our policy is regularly reviewed and updated, and all staff members are trained on how to follow the correct procedures.

 

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

At More Curricular, our designated safeguarding lead is Yvette Reinfor, who has received appropriate training for this role. She is responsible for overseeing all safeguarding policies and procedures, providing support and guidance to staff members, and acting as a point of contact for any safeguarding concerns.

Staff to Child Ratios

We adhere to recommended staff to child ratios as set out by the relevant authorities. These ratios ensure that all children receive adequate supervision and support during our activities.

Responsibility for Children's Well-being and Safety

All staff members at More Curricular understand their responsibility for ensuring the well-being and safety of every child in our care. We have approved procedures in place for managing behaviour, dealing with emergencies, and responding to any concerns or incidents.

 

Zero Tolerance Policy

We have a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination, bullying and persistent poor behaviour of any kind, regardless of any special needs a child may have. We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all children in our care.

 

Training

The owner of More Curricular is a qualified teacher and attends regular training on safeguarding, health and safety, first aid, and other relevant topics. All staff members are also required to undergo regular training to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to provide a safe environment for children.
